Farahan carpets: This type of carpets are originated from Farahan city, located on central Iran, south of Tehran. They are also known as Mahal carpets in the west. They have 'Herati patterns', a flower inside a rhombus surrounded by four acanthus-leaves. The basic colors are mostly dark blue and red, while the colour of the flowers is lighter in order to create an optical tranquility the viewer. Farahan carpets are also manufactured in Pakistan, as their design influenced a lot the carpet manufacturers of this country.
